Dr Laura Morgan has been awarded UWE’s Arts and Humanities Research Council Impact Acceleration funds for a project to prototype colour and design innovations with textile industry partners.

Dr Laura Morgan has been awarded funding from UWE’s Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) Impact Acceleration (IAA) for a project to prototype colour and design innovations with textile industry partners, Dash + Miller. With a vision to accelerate sustainability in textile colour and design, this project will utilise innovations developed in Morgan’s research that combine the sustainable profile of bio-design with value-adding and precision application opportunities provided by digital technology.

The funding that has been granted will provide an opportunity to prototype textile materials with Bristol-based weave design and R&D studio, Dash + Miller, working with the company to test the new coloration and design methods and to co-design solutions for sustainable colour within a local, transparent and traceable production context to demonstrate, not only design innovation, but a kinder production ethos, aligning with UWE’s Sustainability and Climate Change Resilience Beacon.
