3D Artworks

Awarded to Dr Xavier Aure, this project focuses on the development of a digitisation pipeline for high quality replicas of 3D artworks, which can be experienced using app-free, web-based augmented reality (WebAR) for mobile and HoloLens. The aim is to create a prototype which uses highly detailed 3D models of existing artworks with new creative immersive experiences to give audiences in a completely new viewing experience of looking at reproduced art.

The project will use WebAR to visualise highly accurate 3D models via the web-browser on a mobile phone. This approach means that no app download is required, instead, the user can simply go to a URL and place their phone camera over a marker to see 3D objects in augmented reality.
