Professor Carinna Parraman has been awarded University Impact Acceleration funds for a project to tour an exhibition of artists editions.

In 2022 we ran an Artist in Residence programme commissioning 12 artists to produce a body of work and edition of prints in collaboration with the researchers in the CFPR. The artists had the opportunity to work with a new range of new equipment and materials. Their progress and outcomes are shared on the CFPR Editions website ,which includes links to interviews, films and publications. For each artist, we have created individual edited books with invited critical essays exploring the making of each artwork.

The exhibition is a self-contained and portable travelling exhibition – The Cabinet of Curiosities – containing the artists editions, books, and explanatory tear-off sheets that, when opened, can be transformed into a wall-free exhibition space. The Royal Society used the Cabinet of Curiosities to share knowledge or entertain, facilitating opportunities for introducing new ideas. In this instance, we hope it will overcome conversation barriers by inviting audiences to engage and share their experiences and thoughts.

We are delighted to launch the Cabinet of Curiosities in 2024 as a touring exhibition and we are particularly keen to engage with audiences who might not ordinarily be comfortable in contemporary galleries by touring the exhibition to other venues such as schools, museums and libraries and places of work – if you would like to host the exhibition please email us.
