Laura Clarke Oaten, Research Technician in Print Technologies
I joined the Centre for Fine Print Research as part of Expanding Excellence in England (E3) fund in November 2019, as Research Technician in Print Technologies following a previous position at City and Guilds of London Art School where I was Tutor of Traditional Print for 8 years.
I am also a visual artist, collaborative printmaker and curator as part of the Rented by the Hour collaborative. I have worked as an Artists Assistant with Prof Marilene Oliver and Kate MccGwire, and have editioned prints for many artists including Cathie Pilkington, Grayson Perry, Mark Hampson, Guler Ates and Tamsin Relly.
My work has been shown at many national and international exhibitions and film festivals over the past 10 years, including the London Original Print Fair, Royal Academy Summer Show, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Brighton Fringe Festival, London Short Film Festival, the Young Artists Moscow Biennale, Cob Gallery, London and the Smokehouse Gallery among others.
I was awarded the Alf Dunn Prize and Augustus Martin Prize for my graduating work during my MA at the Royal College of Art in 2010. I also received the William Barry Scholarship in 2008/2009, the Lumb’s Educational Foundation Award in 2008/2009, the Fred and Pat Tuckman Award in 2008/2009 and the Alfred Foster Settlement in 2008/2009. From 2012 – 2015 I was awarded a Fellowship at the Royal Academy Schools.
