CFPR at the Creative Intersections Day, 7th November Plymouth

Carinna Parraman and Laura Clarke will be talking about the innovative print collaborations and the artists residencies at the Creative Intersections Day at Market Hall, Plymouth on Saturday 7th November.

Carinna Parraman’s talk is entitled, The Curio Case of Curiosities: New materialities, narratives, journeys and storytelling across cultures. Her talk and Curio Case exhibition presents work from the Centre for Print Research’s artist residency programme at UWE Bristol, which brought artists together with specialist researchers, technologies and processes to create experimental limited editions. Spanning digital and analogue methods, the resulting works explore negotiation and translation between artist, machine, material and audience. The Curio Case demonstrates how contemporary printmaking can connect craft, technology and socially engaged creative practice.

Laura Clarke presents a talk ‘Where the Hand Meets the Machine: Craft, Code and Contemporary Printmaking’ exploring the collaboration between artist R James Healy and the Centre for Print Research at UWE Bristol. Drawing on her experience as Master Printer, she discusses how robotics, algorithms and traditional screen-printing techniques were brought together to bridge the gap between handmade and digital processes, exploring the evolving relationship between craft, technology and contemporary printmaking.

Creative Intersections Day brings together artists, makers, designers and creative technologists exploring the intersection of analogue and digital creativity. We will be joining an incredible programme of talks, demonstrations, exhibitions and interactive experiences that showcase innovative approaches to contemporary making.
