CFPR Seminar: Hybrid Printmaking: Exploring innovation and transgression in Traditional Print (watch online)
This session is led by Laura Clarke (CFPR Print Technician) on her work as a printmaker, visual artist and how she combines the two with elements of sculpture and animation. You can learn more about Laura’s work on her website.
Laura Clarke is a visual artist, collaborative printmaker, filmmaker, educator and currently a Research Technician in Print Technologies at the Centre for Fine Print Research. In this seminar Laura will look back at a few selected projects, both in her own practice and with other artists, where the nature of traditional print had been challenged, manipulated or transgressed; sometimes in scale, through animation or sculpturally to create hybrid prints.
Laura graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2010 with an MA in Fine Art Printmaking, where she received the Alf Dunn prize and the Augustus Martin Award for excellence. She was awarded a Fellowship at the Royal Academy School in 2012 and has worked as a printmaking tutor at City & Guilds of London Art School for the last 9 years. Her work has been shown at many national and international exhibitions and film festivals over the past 10 years, including the London Original Print Fair, Royal Academy Summer Show, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Brighton Fringe Festival, London Short Film Festival, the Young Artists Moscow Biennale, Cob Gallery, London and the Smokehouse Gallery among others.
