(No need to register – link will be open fifteen minutes before the talk starts.)

After the main discussion we will hold a Q&A where you can talk with Kate and Sian. Sian can tell you about the treasures of the Royal Astronomical Society and life as its librarian and Kate can answer your bookish questions about her project, artwork and collaboration.

In 2018 Kate Bernstein was invited by Creativity & Curiosity, an artist and astronomy project, and the Royal Astronomical Society, in visiting the Society’s Library. Kate was then funded by the Arts Council to carry out collaborative research at the Library and explore the outcome through the Book Arts.

Initially creating three small editioned books, exploring the role of printing in disseminating astronomical knowledge, Kate then collaborated with Dr Sian Prosser, the RAS librarian on a large book work Measuring the Heavens, 2020. This celebrates the Library and its historic collection and draws on the dialogue between the two collaborators.
