BABE – Bristol Artist’s Book Event at Bower Ashton


BABE 2022 took place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th April, hosted at our UWE City campus. 4000 visitors came along to meet 108 exhibitors from UK & EIRE, Poland, and also see books from artists in Australia, Japan, Brazil, USA.

UWE undergraduate and post graduate students and alumni also showed artworks made in workshops run by artist Éilis Kirby who is currently artist-in-residence at Bower Ashton Library for IMPACT 12.

BABE 2022 had a special focus on guest exhibitors from the Nordic/Scandinavian regions including Denmark Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden whose attendance at the event was funded by our SABPP Nordic Culture Council grant.

Free public workshops and artists’ talks took place over the weekend, plus collections corner presentations and exhibitions in the library including World Book Night Ghosts in the Machine.
