11-13 April 2022: Annual Conference of the British Liquid Crystal Society
The annual conference of the British Liquid Crystal Society (BLCS) will return to Bristol in 2022, hosted at the University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus.
As always, the BLCS conference will be foremostly a platform for young researchers, whether PhD students or early career researchers, to present their work to an expert audience.
We all have been restricted by COVID over the last two years. Work did not always go according to plan. Therefore, we are encouraging everyone to think outside the box for their presentations and consider:
- New and unusual applications of liquid crystal research.
- Liquid crystals beyond low molecular weight.
- Liquid crystals as art
- How to make liquid crystals interesting for non-experts
Poster Prize in memory of Mark Warner:
Professor Mark Warner FRS died on Christmas Eve 2021.
At the British Liquid Crystal Society, he was known for his generosity in sharing knowledge and support, especially with students and young scientists. To celebrate his life and legacy, a member of the BLCS, who would like to stay anonymous, has donated £100 for the Mark Warner Poster Prize which will be given for the poster with the best outreach potential.
