Sorrow Dolls: Exploration of the potential of CNC plates combining intaglio, embossing and relief printing
Cecilia Mandrile has been working with Carinna Parraman and Walter Guy on an exploration of the potential of CNC plates combining intaglio, embossing and relief printing on watercolour paper and porcelain casting towards a tangible imprint.
Cecilia was commissioned to create the (secret) lady of honor award for the event ‘Ladies First – HONEYTRAPS’ in October 2019, held at KGB Espionage Museum, New York, using one of the CNC blocks made at CFPR to create a porcelain medal.
The outcome of the ongoing project has also been selected to participate in several international exhibitions, as well as being the subject of lectures and interviews (links in News). International exhibitions include: Healing and Community: Physical to Virtual, curated by Patricia Miranda at the Uptown Arts Stroll 2020, NoMAA Gallery, New York, and the traveling exhibition Resemblance Through Contact: The Grammar of the Imprint, curated by Liina Siib and Maria Erikson, presented in Estonia at the Tartu Art House and at the Estonian Academy of Art Gallery in Talllinn during July and September, 2020.
