Material Matters London
17–20 September 2025
Space House, 1 Kemble St (Kingsway), London WC2B 4AN
The Material Matters Fair returns for its fourth edition, bringing together pioneering designers, makers, and researchers to explore the latest innovations in sustainable design and material intelligence. This year’s event takes place in a bold new venue- Space House, one of London’s most iconic modernist landmarks.
Sofie will be showcasing innovative adornments crafted from lab-grown crystals and reclaimed materials, pushing the boundaries of jewellery design through experimental processes involving biopolymers, scent, lab-grown minerals, and waste by-products.
At the heart of her exhibit is Neo-gemstones®, a research initiative led by Dr Sofie Boons, which investigates the alchemical potential of lab-grown crystals and related technologies. By developing novel crystal materials and creatively applying crystal growth processes, Sofie’s work challenges traditional notions of authenticity, value, and materiality in contemporary jewellery.
