Trasi Henen
Trasi Henen is a South African artist, educator, and researcher based in Bristol. Her practice-based PhD, Taking Shapes: Gathering Without a Place to Put It, investigates the container as a precarious space of inclusion and exclusion, where what is held is defined as much by what is left out. Informed by neurodivergent perception and working through expanded drawing, mapping, walking, and the artist flip book, her research explores accumulation, desire, and cognitive dissonance as conditions through which knowledge, perception, and belonging are negotiated. The research also includes a significant strand exploring the making of more-than-human habitats.
She holds an MFA with Distinction from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BFA from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Her work is held in collections including the Goldsmiths College Art Collection.
