The Centre for Fine Print Research (CFPR) is pleased to announce that three of its staff, Sofie Boons, Angie Butler and Wuon-Gean Ho, have been independently selected for the prestigious Biennial International Conference for the Craft Sciences (BICCS) run by the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, from May 4-6th this year.

The Biennial International Conference for the Craft Sciences (BICCS) prides itself in showcasing new and original research contributions. The focus is on pertinent questions in our post-digital age, including topics such as how craft research can be communicated through multimodal means; the role of craft in today’s society; questioning the potential of craft practitioner-researchers in interdisciplinary research; and evaluating new pedagogic methods. The natural interests of our researchers in CFPR overlap with many of these research themes in addressing the junction between craft and technology with specific reference to print and the multiple.

Jewellery designer and research associate Sofie Boons will give a presentation titled ‘Crystals as Co-creators: an investigation to growing crystals as a methodology for jewellery designers’. Letterpress artist and senior research fellow Angie Butler will give an exhibition talk called ‘Communicating touch: conversations between spaces and screens.’ Printmaker and research associate Wuon-Gean Ho will present her film called ‘Three Observations on filming Tactility and Movement in Crafts-based Practice’. All three are excited to be selected, and look forward to connecting with an international audience in a vibrant and growing field.

Registration is open until 30th April and tickets are a very reasonable 500SEK (less than £43) for the three-day event. For more information please see https://craftsciencesconference.com/
