Artist Talks for Students

On Wednesday 14 December, the Centre for Print Research (CFPR) is hosting a day of artist talks at Bower Ashton. We will hear from four artists about their practice and their current work at the CFPR.

Time: 10:30am to 3pm

Location: Bower Ashton Publishing Space (0C002)

If you can’t make it in person, we are live streaming and recording the talks here on Remo virtual platform. (We can have a maximum of 50 participants joining live on a first come-first served basis, so it’s best to log in early. The platform will open at 10.15am.)

How to join the event:

The event takes place on the virtual conferencing platform Remo. Remo aims to encapsulate the feeling of attending a networking event, classroom, or workshop.

You will be asked to sign up to Remo if you haven’t used it before with your email address.


Remo works on desktops, laptops, and mobile phones. Tablets are NOT supported. Remo works through your internet browser. You do not need to download any software, but we encourage you to register in advance of the event.

Remo Conference is currently optimized for the following operating systems, updated to the latest version:

• Windows
• Mac
• iOS Safari or Chrome
• Android Chrome

Chrome has proven to be the most reliable, if you have any issues, try changing browser and re-joining the event. You can test your settings with the Remo gear test tool here.

For support click on the “Need Help” button on the bottom left corner of the Remo platform, Remo has also created a self-help guide here for microphone or camera issues.


Throughout the event you will be able to use the chat function. General chat can be seen by everyone, table chat is private for the table and direct messages are private between participants. You can send a participant a direct message by locating them on the floorplan and clicking on their icon, or by locating them in the participant list.

Moving around the platform

You can move to another ‘table’ by double clicking on the table you would like to go to. If it is very busy on the platform you can also change floor on the left-hand side through the elevator.

You can zoom in and out of the platform using your mouse or zoom controls on your keyboard.

When the artist talks begin, you will automatically be taken to ‘presentation mode’ to view the talk.

I have a technical issue I cannot resolve, who do I contact?

If your technical issue is related to your broadband speed or personal computer, we advise you to attempt resolving the issue independently. If the issue is related to the Remo platform, please contact us in the chat box or try to resolve the issue with the Remo Team, by clicking on the question mark speech bubbles on the bottom left side of the screen.
