Research Topic: Development of creative, digital human-computer interfaces (HCI): researching how to design radical new flexible design interfaces and how to make such systems accessible for industry and creative practitioners.

Sam is a PhD candidate within the 3D3 programme funded by the National Productivity Investment Fund.

As technological platforms, such as digital fabrication and robotic technologies, increase their capacity for flexible operation, there is a requirement to co-develop radical new flexible interfaces. This research project aims equip creative practitioners who are exploring new technologies with the tools to achieve this. Sam will undertake an exploration into how to design digital interfaces to be reconfigurable in the realm between machine code and the user interface and how to make such systems accessible between technologists and creative practitioners.

Sam’s PhD is supported by the AHRC.
