Milly Hardy

Milly graduated from Bath Spa University in 2018 with a degree in Contemporary Arts Practice, specialising in Ceramic Sculpture. Her practice utilises processes which reveal and exploit the inherent qualities and materiality of clay and locally sourced materials such as rock and earth. Through her work she aims to evoke the richness of the earth and its hidden geological narratives as well as the alchemy of ceramics.

Her practical skill set is predominantly within ceramics and includes hand building, throwing, sculpting, producing glazes and decorating with found minerals. She also has experience in mould making and casting as well as print making.

In 2018 Milly ran Wiltshire Ceramic Studio, an artist led space which allowed her to broaden her practice on completion of her degree. She collaborated with visiting artists, attended residencies, ran public facing workshops and took part in local artist studio open days.

Milly has also been part of and curated art exhibitions at Arnolfini, Bristol Biennial, Walcot Chapel, Lane House Arts, Loft 6D and Bath Spa University.

As well as having her own art practice Milly has worked at Bath Potters as a General Assistant providing support and technical advice to customers. She’s also worked with Rib Productions as an Artist, supporting the production of life size human mannequins for emergency medical training purposes where she cast, sculpted and painted body parts and injuries using wax-based modelling clay, silicone and silicone-based paints.

In 2022, after taking a two and a half year break to have her daughter, she began working with Dave Huson on the at CFPR.
