When is the IMPACT conference?
The dates of the conference are 21 - 25 September 2022
Where will the conference take place?
The conference will take place in Bristol UK. It will be hosted at different campus sites across the University of the West of England, including Bower Ashton, Arnolfini and Frenchay.

I am unable to attend in person, can I take part?
Yes, certainly.  We will also be holding the conference online via our IMPACT 12 Remo platform.

We are very excited about our carefully crafted online IMPACT conference site, which is beautifully illustrated by Bristol artist Simon Tozer.
We aim to provide you with a brilliant IMPACT online experience, access to exhibitions and networking opportunities. We hope you enjoy exploring all the details and surprises on the Remo site. Look out for the conference cat!

Whilst we will take every effort to enable live feed access to the conference, which will include the opening event on Wednesday evening, Thursday morning position papers at the Council House, recorded workshops and online exhibitions, we cannot guarantee access to all activities.
How else can I take part?
Our #summerofprintandbooks is now live! We are releasing a series of films and activities over the summer. These are free to all. Please contact us at impact12@uwe.ac.uk to be added to the mailing list and we can keep you up to date. 
I have a disability, can I participate?
Yes, we aim to make the conference as accessible as possible. Please contact impact12@uwe.ac.uk to discuss your requirements. 

I am interested in...

I am interested in promoting my workshop/studio/co-operative how do I do this?
We invite all co-operatives and printmaking workshops to promote your studios on this Impact 12 website and during the conference. 

We now have a dedicated webpage for studios, where you can explore other studios and find the link to submit your own information, to include:
Name of studio
Contact name
Website link and email address
2-3 images, for example, the outside or the inside of your workshop and an interesting feature
5-10 Keywords, for example, presses and equipment, interests, activities

The call is open now until 31st August 2022, and we aim to include everyone. Posting is free of charge and you do not need to attend the conference.
I am interested in taking part in the product fair, who shall I contact?
The product fair will be an important part of the conference and will be hosted at the new CFPR labs at Frenchay Campus. Please also look at the FAQ on costs and what you can expect for your fee. 
To discuss your requirements, please contact impact12@uwe.ac.uk with some options for a day(s) and time and we can arrange an online meeting.
I am interested in sponsoring the event, who can I talk to?
We welcome any sponsorship - large or small. Please contact impact12@uwe.ac.uk with some options for a day(s) and time that is good for you and we can arrange an online meeting. 
I have an idea for an alternative event, activity or exhibition, what can I do?

How much is the delegate fee and what's included?
Registration rates
Early bird rate: £210 until 30 April 2022
Standard rate: £250 1st May - 31 August 2022

Standard rate for Associate member of the IMPACT conference: £230 - 31 August 2022
Standard student rate: £150

I am a UWE student/alumnus and the fees are out of my reach, but I would like to take part, what can I do?
We are offering a discounted rate of £100 to students and alumni who are able to assist with the conference preparations and/or offer support during the conference. Please contact impact12@uwe.ac.uk stating Volunteering in the email subject and we will get back to you.

What are the key dates for the submission of open calls for panels and exhibitions?
The open call for panels and exhibitions will follow a two-round process

Round 1 - for submissions to curate open call panels and exhibitions: Friday 7 January 2022. Selected panels and exhibitions chairs will be informed by Friday 4 February 2022, and will have until 14 March to make their full selection.

Round 2 - Artists who are interested in applying to panels and exhibitions open call will be asked to reply to panels and exhibitions chairs by Friday 4 March 2022. 
What are the key dates for the submission of reflective practice panels and technical demonstrations?
The deadline date for submission of your application is Monday 7 February 2022. Please email impact12@uwe.ac.uk and clearly state Reflective Practice Panels or Technical Demonstrations in the email subject when applying. 
What are the key dates for the submission of academic position papers and reflective practice papers?
The deadline is Monday 7 February 2022.  Please note the online system for the academic position papers and reflective practice papers is not yet open.
I need a letter of invitation to obtain permission to travel from my university or for a travel visa, how do I obtain one?
We do not send generic letters, but are happy to provide a letter of support specific to your needs. Please contact impact12@uwe.ac.uk.

Is anything happening on the morning of the 21st September and the day of the 25th September?
On the morning of Wednesday 21st September, we are planning two separate industrial trips to St Cuthberts Paper Mill in Wells Somerset and Cranfield Colours in Cwmbran. You will be back in time for registration on the Wednesday afternoon. 

On Sunday 25th September we are planning trips to museums and cathedral cities, including 
Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum and Lacock village and The Roman Baths in Bath

REMO 

When are the platforms open?
All platforms (except Lecture Theatre 2) are open from Wednesday 21 September 9 AM BST to Saturday 24 September 6M BST. Platforms are accessible day and night from opening to closing to allow participants from abroad to access the content. Lecture Theatre 2 is only open to broadcast Parallel session on Friday 23 from 9 AM BST to Saturday 24 September 6 PM BST. Once parallel sessions have been broadcast you can access recorded presentations of these sessions also.
Where do I access recorded presentations?
Lecture Theatre 1 has a ‘door’ to click through to a playlist of recorded sessions on YouTube. Please note not all participants have submitted their recorded presentations. If you would like to see a presentation by a specific speaker, and it is not accessible, feel free to contact the speaker directly for a copy of their presentation.
When will live broadcasting start?
Please access the agenda in the Remo Map landing platform. Each platform will also have more information on what can be accessed there.
How can I ask questions to speakers?
During live broadcasting you can ask questions in the Q&A section of Remo. Outside of live broadcasting we advise you to email questions to speakers directly.
What recorded content is available to me?
In the lecture theatre you will be able to access pre-recorded presentations by speakers attending the conference, content will be uploaded at the end of each day, presentations are not available before they have been presented. Please note not all participants have submitted their recorded presentations. If you would like to see a presentation by a specific speaker, and it is not accessible, feel free to contact the speaker directly for a copy of their presentation. In the Exhibition Gallery you will be able to access a large selection of content created as part of the Summer of Print and Books. In addition you will also be able to see all the virtual exhibitions that were submitted to the conference in 2 gallery rooms.
Will Close Captions or Subtitles be available?
Yes, there is a functionality within Remo that will allow you to turn on Closed Captions (see https://help.remo.co/en/support/solutions/articles/63000270528) However, at the moment the software only accommodates English –no other languages are currently available. Full papers will be published after the conference, so participants can re-visit subjects or contact authors should they have any questions.
Will content remain available after the conference?
The Remo platforms will be open for the full duration of the conference (day and night), opening on Wednesday at 9:00 AM GMT and closing on Saturday 6:00 pm GMT. Some content, like the video’s created for the ‘Summer of Print and Books’ will be available after the conference, but conference specific content (like recorded presentations of speakers) will not be available after the conference ends. The online publication will be available after the conference, and the IMPACT12 website will remain live for the foreseeable future.
Do online participants also have access to demonstrations and workshops?
Workshops and demonstrations are limited to a selection of in person participants only. In addition to the live presentations that are broadcast in up to 2 parallel virtual rooms, the product fair page and the virtual exhibitions, there are ‘picnic talks’ and ‘exhibition walks’ scheduled.
Do I have to share my video and audio when accessing the platform?
No, you are welcome to leave your camera and video off whilst roaming the platforms. However, if you would like to speak to other participants you can simply turn them on and those at your ‘table’ will be able to see and hear you. We have designated the ‘Printmaker’s Garden’ as the social space for the duration of the conference. Please use this space during breaks and before and after presentations to socialise with other online participants.
Will there be translations of subtitles in other languages (Catalan, Spanish, ...)?

Full papers will be published after the conference, so participants can re-visit subjects or contact authors should they have any questions.
When will you have access to the conferences and Remo activities: it's Only at the time of realization? Or for a few days? Or will it be for a long term? Or unlimited time access?
The Remo platforms will be open for the full duration of the conference (day and night), opening on Wednesday at 8:30 AM GMT and closing on Saturday 6:00 pm GMT. Some content, like the video’s created for the ‘Summer of Print and Books’ will be available after the conference, but conference specific content (like recorded presentations of speakers) will not be available after the conference ends. There will be a publication with all full papers available after the conference, and the IMPACT12 website will remain live for the foreseeable future. 
Does it also include access to some demonstrations and workshops? Which of them?
Workshops and demonstrations are limited to a selection of in person participants only. In addition to the live presentations that are broadcast in up to 2 parallel virtual rooms, the product fair page and the virtual exhibitions, there are ‘picnic talks’ and ‘exhibition walks’ scheduled, more information about these sessions will be available to participants through the IMPACT12 Online Guidance document.
