CFPR 2019 Christmas Card
Our brilliant 2019 Christmas E-Card has been designed by visiting Artist Jessica Ho.
I am Jessica Ho, lecturer at the Hong Kong Design Institute. I am now working as an Academic Visiting Fellow at UWE. It is a great honour to be invited by the CFPR to create a Christmas card. The image shows the wildlife join in celebrating Christmas. The goose is singing Christmas carols, while the other birds and fish in the sea harmonize in celebration of the joyful season.
The idea of using wildlife as the theme comes from my recent illustration work series focusing on city birds. In particular, the drawing of the waves with expressive lines is inspired by the woodblock print works of the infamous Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. My process is a combination of hand and software drawings. I draw the main objects with ink and watercolour and then create the shimmering effect, further details, colours and graphics with the Procreate software.
